Kerry and JJ
42 Reds in 6 hours
These guys booked a 6 hour trip From Murrells Inlet down to Georgetown. They really wanted to target the Redfish. So we met at the landing bright and early. The morning was cloudy with a huge chance of rain. Within an hour, the downpours came. We managed to boat about 9 Reds, JJ caught the biggest at around 28 inches. We were only throwing popping corks at the time. After the storm the Reds just totally shut down.. So I was trying to figure out what to do and so I decided to run somewhere and just throw spinnerbaits on some flats at some Redfish.
We finally got there and I changed the baits and that was the trick. These guys were bass fisherman from upstate, and let me tell you they could cast with “PINPOINT” accuracy!!! These guys put on a clinic of how to catch fish. At one point, Kerry was “Puttin the Beatdown on JJ”!!! He boated like 8-9 in a row. But JJ, Always seem to catch all the big ones. Go figure.
These guys were a lot of fun and look forward to seeing them again on the boat. Awesome Fisherman!
Jonna and William
The day started out with William telling me that Jonna has never boated a fish by herself from start to finish on any charter that they have ever done. Oh my lord, my work is cut out today!!!!! But Jonna caught on quick as far as casting. I told them when they boarded that we were going upriver and we would be throwing only artificial baits. Cast and Reel. William’s eyes lit up and said, “Maybe there is something else we can do”!! Negative!!! I got this one. She learned fast and the Dear Lord was watching down her. She was casting like a veteran after a few lessons and it was only a matter of time!! 10 mins all it took, She hooks up and works the Red to the boat, That’s right, only 10 mins. A 22 inch Redfish, from start to finish all by herself. I was so proud of her because she had no confidence what so ever. But she did it!!!! Her 1st Redfish, From start to finish, and ARTIFICIAL BAIT TO BOOT!!! Smiles from ear to ear!!!! Great for you Jonna. It is a Great accomplishment!! Not many can say that on Artificial.
The charter boated approximately 8 for the half day charter. William did boat Reds also but the story of the day was about her, she boated 5!!!
It was a great day for them and for me also, to see her boat that first fish was worth the whole trip for me. That’s why I charter, for these days!!!
Thanks for the great memories
